Online casino gambling is being taken to whole new heights with
British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines and Virgin
Airlines in the next few months. They are all going to be offering
their passengers the chance to play mid air games like online bingo
as well as the usual movies and audio entertainment. Virgin, has
been offering their players this option for two years now but
without the chance to bet; they have their own online games portal.
The other three airlines will be accessing 888.com to handle their
betting needs.
This move is in direction dissention from last years introduction of
onboard Texas Hold'em by US carrier Delta Airlines, though this was
only done on flights within the country. This game proved to be very
popular with travelers who would otherwise have been very bored.
With the new system a much wider variety of games will be available
and players can pass their time and win money at the same time
playing their favorite game. The hopes of the casino involved is of
course that some of the players will catch bingo fever and continue
to play online once their flight is over and to make everyone's
flight more fun for them from the
time they take off.
These carriers are going to of course not offer these services on
flights that are leaving from the US. However the US Department of
Transportation did a study that suggested that United States
carriers, that were operating behind the wall of protection so to
speak from the UIGEA could split an extra $300 million a year if
gambling were to be allowed
on these flights.
Some people working on the planes have concerns that online casinos
and gambling might lead to unruly behavior by the passengers, but
rest assured that measures have been taken. Low limits are going to
be in place on these games to prevent players from losing more than
they can afford on these flights, so one flight won't cost a family
a fortune.
